Solera awnings by Lippert are some of the best awnings on the market. However, no matter which awning you use, you’re likely to run into issues at some point. If you need help troubleshooting your awning problems, this ultimate guide to Lippert awnings can help you fix the problem and get back on track! Here’s what you need to know!

What are Lippert awnings?

Lippert is a leading manufacturer and supplier of products and solutions related to the RV, marine, auto, commercial vehicle, and building products industries. While they offer a wide range of products and services, their selection of awnings under the brand name Solera remains one of the most popular and well-known brands. Lippert offers a broad selection of aftermarket products focused on improving the RV and camper experience.

Is Lippert the same as Solera?

Beginning in 1956, Lippert has found a way to service many industries throughout the years. Their product portfolio includes many different products and brands. One of those brands, Solera, includes many aftermarket products for RV awnings. Solera is a Lippert awning brand and a leader in RV fabric solutions.

How do you clean a Solera awning?

To clean your Solera awning, create a mixture of five gallons of water and ¼ a container of Dawn dish soap in a bucket. Using a bristle brush, apply the mixture to the surface fabric on your Solera awning. Once you’ve liberally applied the solution, retract the awning for five minutes. After the solution has had time to set into the fabric, unroll the awning and gently scrub the fabric with your brush. Use clean water to rinse the awning when you are down scrubbing, and then allow your awning to air dry.

How to Extend Your Solera Awning

  1. Locate the crank handle for your Solera awning
  2. Take your crank handle and Insert the hook end into the eye bolt on the drive head located on the side of the awning frame
  3. Turn the crank clockwise until the awning is fully extended

How to Retract Your Solera Awning

  1. Locate the crank handle for your Solera awning
  2. Take your crank handle and Insert the hook end into the eye bolt on the drive head located on the side of the awning frame
  3. Turn the crank counterclockwise until the awning is fully retracted

Adjusting Pitch on a Solera Awning

You can adjust the pitch on your Solera awning by moving the pitch arm to one side so that water can runoff. Simply extend the awning until it is fully open, then choose which side you want the water to runoff. Pull down on the join of the pitch arm on that side until you reach the desired pitch.

What to do if Your Solera Awning Won’t Close All the Way

Your awning may be considered “fully closed” if the outer arm is overlapping the mount arm. The amount of overlap may vary. If there is no overlap, ensure there are no obstructions in the support arm. Then double-check the fabric is straight and rolling into the roll tube correctly.

What to do if Your Solera Awning Rolls up Backwards

Your Solera awning fabric should always go above the roll tube. If you operate the crank handle while past full extension, then your awning may roll backward. To fix this, simply operate the crank in the retract direction (counterclockwise), and the awning will correct itself to a standard of normal operation.
