Replacing Your
Coachmen RV Awning Fabric

It was 1964 when the first Coachmen RV products were made in Middlebury, IN.  Although it is best known for travel trailers, this manufacturer also includes lines of motorhomes.  Coachmen became a division of Forest River Inc. in 2008 but is still headquartered in Middlebury.  They focus on producing a variety of motorhomes and travel trailers that will fit many budgets and camping styles.

Because Coachmen RVs come in so many different sizes and styles, it is best to know how to measure for a replacement awning.  There are two different ways to determine the size of awning that will fit your RV.

The first option requires that you have access to the RV’s awning arms.  You will simply need to measure the distance between the two arms.  For example, if there is 16’ between the arms, you will need to order an awning replacement to fit a 16’ awning.  Note: the fabric will be approximately 10” shorter than the space between the awning arms.

If you no longer have access to the awning arms, you can still figure out the size of awning you need by measuring the length of the RV.  A standard awning length will be around one-third to one-half of the RV’s length.  Once you know these measurements, you can purchase the awning size that best suits your RV.  The fabric will still be approximately 10” shorter than the awning size.
